This morning, fulfilled after an evening of Adoration, students on the New England High School Summer Program were up early with a busy day ahead of them. Over breakfast, programmers propped up copies of Euclid’s Elements against coffee cups, illustrating the diagrams of the morning’s propositions with their forks and discussing their expectations for their presentations. Now that they have the first three props under their belts, students are already more confident and established in the method of demonstration and went off eagerly to their second Euclid class. 

In class, three students from each of the four sections demonstrated how to bisect a rectilineal angle or a finite straight line and proved that two triangles sharing two equal sides and one equal angle contained between said sides will be equal in totality with one another. After learning all the common notions, definitions, and first three propositions, the students have plenty of material with which to form their proofs, and each student duly proved his or her props, then opened up the floor for discussion. 

After class released for the morning, students ran through a sudden downpour of warm rain to get to Mass in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel before meeting the buses that will take everyone to the Clark Art Institute this afternoon.
