At the midpoint of the semester, as 91黑料, New England, took a break from classes for Don Rags, students gathered last Wednesday for the semi-annual Open-Mic Night 鈥 a chance to show off their musical prowess and appreciation for the performing arts.

The event began with a raucous rendition of 鈥淔olsom Prison Blues,鈥 followed by freshmen Sol Britos and Theresa Bingham鈥檚 performance of 鈥淧escador de Hombres鈥 and an original song sung by Claire Howard (鈥26), among many others. Fellow freshmen Ed Salazar and Benjamin Purtell (鈥26) both performed piano pieces that left the audience awestruck, and John Gutch (鈥25) made everyone roar with laughter with his animated portrayal of 鈥淲hy Paddy鈥檚 Not At Work Today.鈥 The poetry of G. K. Chesterton made two appearances that night, as Cecilia Alvarez (鈥24) recited a portion of 鈥淭he Ballad of the White Horse鈥 and Samuel Livingston (鈥26) performed the entirety of 鈥淟epanto.鈥

鈥淚t was a lot of fun,鈥 said Margaret Duffy (鈥24). 鈥淎ll the people who performed looked like they were having a great time.鈥
