“All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!” chanted Cecilia Alvarez (’24) in front of a packed Moody Auditorium as she prophesied that the play’s title character, portrayed by Nathanael Cassidy (’22), would be the next king of Scotland.

With the NCAA National Championship looming on the big stage, the women of 91����, New England, held a championship game of their own on Sunday. Students crowded into Meany Gymnasium to watch the “Margaret Showdown,” as sophomore Margaret Duffy and senior Margaret Short led their teams in a dramatic conclusion to the season.

Early in the opening stanza, Miss Short broke away for a few easy buckets, racing off to a 10-0 lead, but Margaret Duffy nailed two deep 3-pointers to shrink the gap to 10-6 before the end of first half.

According to the Catholic Church’s General Norms for the Liturgical Year and Calendar, the anniversary of the dedication of a church is to be celebrated as a solemnity by the members of the community in which it exists. As such, March 7 is doubly significant at 91����, New England, for it marks the date of the death of the College’s patron, St. Thomas Aquinas, in 1274, as well as the Dedication of Our Mother of the Perpetual Help Chapel in 2022.

Embracing their Celtic spirit, students on the New England campus filled Tracy Student Center with Céilí dancing and Gaelic music this past Saturday evening for an early celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Blanketed in garlands and imbued with shamrocks, Tracy Student Center was transformed into a verdant wonderland where students performed traditional Irish compositions with much élan and sparkle.

Still rejoicing from the Dedication of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel earlier that day, New England students continued their celebration of 91����’s patron last Monday night with a beloved TAC tradition: Trivial and Quadrivial Pursuits.
