With an evening of dancing and merriment behind them, it’s time for students on the California High School Great Books Program to head home.

Many of the programmers rose at the crack of dawn this morning to make the drive to Los Angeles International Airport. And throughout the day, parents of students who live close by have rolled onto campus to pick up their children. New friends said goodbye, hugging and wiping away tears as they promised to keep in touch. Many expressed heartbreak about the need to leave TAC, with shouts of “See you soon!” echoing throughout campus. 

The program, although only two weeks long, has created lasting bonds between students and prefects alike. All hope they will, indeed, see each other again before too long. 

We want to express our gratitude to everyone involved in making the 2026 Two-Week Summer Program as fantastic as it was. A special thank you goes out to Fr. Sebastian for serving as our chaplain, as well as to Program Director Dr. John Finley for leading the way. We’re also especially grateful to the dedicated team of prefects who worked tirelessly over the past two weeks to make the programmers feel at home. Of course, none of this would be possible without Jon Daly, executive director of Admissions and the entire Admissions Department, guiding all the behind-the-scenes operations. 

Finally, the College would like to thank the amazing student crew that has been faithfully producing content for this blog over the last 14 days! Grace Doyle (’27) has written the twice-daily dispatches with great style and dedication, cranking out more than 10,000 words! And Abby DeKroon (’27) has blessed us with her beautiful photographs — nearly 3,000 in all! Their work has come at the expense of many a late night and many an early morning. Thank you, Grace and Abby!

We should also offer a shout out to Peter Doylend (NE’29), who has been assembling web pages from our New England campus, as well as Niah Agar (CA’28), who has created the spectacular reels you’ve been seeing on the College’s social-media channels. Thank you, gentlemen!
