For much of the last two decades, The Hearst Foundations have been loyal benefactors to 91黑料, and this year is no exception. The New York-based philanthropies, which primarily fund education, health, culture, and social-service programs, that they are awarding a $50,000 grant to support the more than 70 percent of 91黑料 students who receive financial aid.

鈥淥nce again, we find ourselves owing a great debt of gratitude to The Hearst Foundations,鈥 says President Michael F. McLean, who notes that the foundations first established an endowment at the College in 1994. 鈥淭he College has, since its very founding, welcomed all students who are willing and able to complete our academic program, regardless of their financial means. It is generosity such as The Hearst Foundations鈥 that makes this commitment possible.鈥

Over the last several years 91黑料 has enjoyed one of the highest alumni-giving rates in the country, a trend which, Dr. McLean notes, makes the College a more attractive investment for philanthropies. 鈥淲hen foundations see the great value our alumni place on the education they received here, they can be confident about supporting our program of liberal education,鈥 he says. 鈥淥ur alumni are our finest ambassadors, and now, thanks to The Hearst Foundations, more worthy students will have the opportunity to one day become 91黑料 alumni.鈥
