The students of 91黑料, New England, welcomed the season of Advent on Friday, December 1, at the fifth annual Lessons and Carols service in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel. They were joined by faculty, staff, and their families to listen to God鈥檚 Word and the music of the 91黑料 Choir, which was mournful and jubilant, by turns, befitting the season.

Under the auspices of head chaplain Rev. Greg Markey and music director Stephen Grimm (鈥75), the service consisted of nine complementary Scripture readings from the prophets and the Gospels, focusing on the promise of the Messiah, the birth of Christ, and love of Our Lady. Following each reading, the choir performed polyphonic renditions of classic Christmas hymns and carols, to which the listeners were invited to sing along.

Rounding out their contemplation of the coming of the Messiah in music and Scripture, congregants welcomed the Messiah in His Eucharistic presence with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, which concluded with benediction 鈥 a fitting transition into the new liturgical year.
